Choosing Your Wedding Shoes
Everyone has different views when it comes to wedding shoes. For some splashing on a pair of Jimmy Choose is totally acceptable; it is your wedding day after all. Others choose to spend less; with a full length dress, your shoes don’t get that much exposure. But however much you want to spend, it is important that you make the right decision.
Our company offer professional wedding photographer service. We'll make you creative wedding photography.
1) Consider the colour of your shoes in relation to your dress. Decide if you want them to be matching or contrasting in colour. A white or ivory dress would look beautiful with matching shoes, whereas for dresses of bolder shades, you should consider choosing shoes in a different colour, to compliment and enhance your dress. Remember to ensure that your shoes also compliment your other accessories, such as your bag and your bouquet. Paying attention to subtle details such as this really enhances your overall image.
2) Bring your shoes to all dress fittings, not just to match the colour but also to check their height, so the hemline of the dress can be made the right length. Remember that if you are wearing a shorter wedding dress, your shoes will be on constant display, so make sure they are flattering.
3) Remember to consider the floor that you will be walking on. Is it carpeted, or hard? A hard floor can often be slippery, especially when wearing brand new shoes. Ensure that you maintain composure and elegance by using sandpaper to roughen up the soles in advance. The same goes for the dance floor later on, and applies to the groom as much as the bride. No newly-weds want a scenario reminiscent of Chandler’s wedding in Friends.
4) Think practically about the height of your wedding shoes, not just with regards to your comfort but also to your height in relation to the groom. While this is not an issue for many, some taller brides worry about being taller or close in height to their new husband on the wedding day, and if this is you consider lower heels or flats instead. Every bride however needs to remember that she will be wearing the shoes for a considerable amount of time, and feeling crippled from too-high heels will almost certainly spoil the evening celebrations.
5) If you do have your heart set on a pair of bridal shoes that you just know will cause you pain later in the day, why not take a comfortable pair with you to change into after the ceremony and photographs. Chances are, no one will even notice, but do make sure they are not too dissimilar in height – you don’t want to find your dress suddenly trailing along the floor when it isn’t supposed to!
6) As a general rule, it is best to team simple shoes with a more elaborate wedding dress, or the other way round. Don’t run the risk of your outfit looking too ‘busy’ on your wedding day; remember, less is often more.
7) Shop around, and don’t rule out places such as eBay, especially if you are on a fairly tight budget. You would be amazed at how many brides put their once worn, or even never worn wedding shoes up for sale, at brilliant prices.
8) Make sure the style of shoe you choose fits in with the overall style of your wedding. Open toe, strappy shoes can be perfect for a summer wedding, but in winter a closed toe pair of court shoes will look elegant and more appropriate. For a wedding on grass, or on the beach, be aware that narrow heels will sink into the soft ground, so flat shoes or wedge heels will be far easier to walk in. For a fun, quirky wedding, bright, striking shoes peeping out from under your dress can create a real impact.

9) Think about the future of your shoes; will you ever wear them again. For many brides, the idea of splashing out on a pair of shoes to wear only the once just isn’t an option, and it is possible to dye your shoes a colour that enables you to wear them with other outfits many more times.
10) Most importantly of all, choose a pair of wedding shoes that you love. They will always remind you of your special day, and just as with everything else you wear on your wedding day, they should make you feel fabulous.
