How To Deal With Stress Before Wedding

Even if you’re the coolest, calmest and most-collected couple around, weddings can be majorly nerve-wracking.

There’s nothing like an expensive party with everyone you know in one room, where you have to stand up in front of them all and be majorly gushy to your other half – and perform a dance! – to give you a serious case of butterflies. Fear not — take a breath, relax, and consider giving these tips a whirl to wakeup on your wedding day relaxed, refreshed, and ready to become a Mrs.

1. Consider the Location

A venue that you feel instantly emotionally connected to is the ideal surround to make you feel calm, excited and content. It’s important to feel your venue reflects you both as a couple – allowing you to enjoy the space and feel comfortable in it.
Consider a venue where you can stay the night before and marry on site so the morning of your wedding day you are in place and can enjoy every moment without the worry of having to make a big journey to your ceremony. The more traveling you add to your day, the more panicked about arriving on time things can become, with unforeseen traffic jams never a friend of any bride.

2. Replace Coffee with Green Tea

Though one cup a day of each is fine, overdoing coffee and black tea can contribute to energy fluctuations, anxiety and a wired, jittery feeling – hardly ideal when you’re already apprehensive.
Instead, tuck into good quality green, white tea or jasmine when you need an energy boost during the day.
They all contain a small caffeine hit to sharpen the senses, alongside a burst of antioxidants and brain-boosting compounds such as EGCG, which are known for their health-giving properties.
Theanine is also found in green tea (and sometimes given in supplement form to those who suffer from anxiety attacks) has been shown to improve alertness but without the wired-ness, whilst helping to reduce anxiety and tension. Don’t have it after 4pm.

3. Plan your time

There are only so many hours in a day, but it's easy to forget that while in the final throws of wedding planning. If you haven't already, invest in a pretty paper planner, notebook, or utilize your iCal instead of just adding tasks to your never-ending to-do list. By actually making "appointments" for tasks, they suddenly don't seem so daunting, and by scheduling your time for specific tasks you feel more accomplished, organized, and ready to handle whatever your wedding week throws your way. Try your best to stick to that plan. Putting off 'til tomorrow anything that can be planned for your wedding today will cause you to feel all stressed out during the weeks leading up to your wedding.

4. Get More Sleep

A lack of sleep is a significant cause of stress. While it's tempting to burn the midnight oil in the days and nights leading up to the wedding — don't! Do all you can to stick to your sleep routines, as lack of sleep can affect memory, health, and mood (and of course the dreaded dark circles and puffiness that NO bride wants). Be certain to get your 6-8 hours each night, and you'll awake refreshed and focus to tackle each day's wedding chores.

5. Take lots of days off (and don't feel guilty about it)

It's hard to avoid letting your wedding take over your whole life, especially on the extra-stressful final stretch. But your hobbies, friends, and interests are what keeps the anxiety wolf from the door, so letting those slide is a bad idea.
It's hard to find the time, but by delegating tasks and decisions, giving yourself a long enough engagement and cutting down on some of the unnecessary detail you may well find you still have time to be a person too.
Don't ditch your hobbies to claw back some additional planning time. You won't feel like yourself without doing the things you like. Without giving yourself a break it will be hard for you to be a happy and breezy bride. Whatever your favorite activity is – yoga, meditation, shots, or arguing with strangers on the internet – don't take the risk of dropping it.
